Typography and storytelling have been two great loves of my life for as long as I can remember. Since the first day I picked up a pencil and wrote my ABC’s, I’ve always strived to have beautiful handwriting. I remember it becoming an obsession at one point and my parents had to be notified by the school. Apparently, I was taking too long to finish my work (class essays) because I was perfecting every word I wrote. Ha! Anyway, I learned to deal with not-so-perfect handwriting when it came to schoolwork but I still practiced my craft diligently at home. When I had to write short stories for school, I made sure to have print perfect writing to turn in to the teacher. And that passion has stuck with me to this day. But it’s changed. It has transformed into a love for great typography. I drool over a well executed use of font.
So when I saw this audio video about Ira Glass on storytelling, I fell in love with the video instantly. The creator, David Shiyang Liu, did an excellent job of using typography to deliver Ira’s message. If you’re a creative and need a little motivation, please watch this! It’s inspiring and will motivate you to keep pushing forward.
